*BODY RESTORATION & MODIFICTION - Project: 1972 BMW 2002, 2-doors, manual "Body Panels & Spot Restoation, by AL from 2005 to 2008"

1972 BMW 2002 Classic, with a paint job over 12-years old, due to low tape door panel repair, with visble rusted spots, oxidised faded paint surface, and cracks


BMW 1972 2002 CLASSIC, DRIVER SIDE DOOR

Driver side door-panel, far left side it has been step by step restored from the bare mental surface, by anti-rust and than by 3-layeys of faber glass, and than bondo fillers, plus 2-coats of perimer


At first the door panel interior side, lower edege, rusted spots (a,b.c), had to be sanded out clean, and repair with fabe glass, then the exterior side lower part of the driver side door-panel, marked, as (a, b, c) on the lowerwith uneven surface, has been sanded down, and cleaned, in order to bring put the "Low and High Spots", more visble for the auto body technician to progress on the surface repair.


Than the lower part is touched by hand testing, & paint test which shows the low, and high spots visually, for the Golpy, the repair-technician to figure it out correctly and apply one to two layers of faber glass, to even out the low panel part low and high spots, retested by paint test, and to apply few soft layers of bondo filler, and than when it's test by a T-sqaure, horizontaly from the top to the lower edege, showing evenness on the surface, sand with various sander papers and than clean the surface with air bowler and perim it.

Top Photos: Passenger door panel low level part surface has been retested for the low, and high spots, after the door panel was restored on mid-2003, by Golpy, by now Oct-2006, the minor panel problems have to be exaimed carefully, before the door-panel is ready for the 1st, and 2nd perimer-coats. Lower level of the door-panel were sand down, by "40 To 80 Sand paper, with the short, and mid-size sanding blocks", to bring up the low & high spots, and were filled with one layer of Boundo Filler, by resanding the lower door-panel parts, I learned by Hand-touching, and use of of a T-square, there are more minor Low, & High spots, than I used the black Paint-test, which shows on the lower door-panel, the Black-spots are the Low-spots, to be sanded by some degree, and than filled with a layer of Boundo-filler, High-spots gary-color, were sanded down, I also used Picking-hammer to lower some High-spots.

Restored full body panels repair, and wit sand-paper of the panels surface sanding, with diffent grade of sand paper, and than cleaning the car with anti-grease soap, let dry, aired off, and then roll in the paint-both, for a classic car, 2 to 3 surface priming coats for a better paint job result, cheched out for very small body panels unfiished line, surface dens, and door panels lower, & uper edges for a uniform lines.After priming stage prepartion is finished, rewashing of the whole car, let dry the 1963, El camino, was ready for a 2-stage paint custom paint job, a Light Metallic-blue color to be paint by master custom painter Sergio, and his auto body tech team, and Golpy the auto body tech over see, and digital-photos, and auto body tech writing Feb, 2007, www.AutoWebMagazine.com

1991 HOHDA, Sports 2-doors, driver side back fender, damaged with minor dents, the surface paint had to be removed, by 40-G sand paper, than the surface was cleaned up, before Sergio used the electric Copper-Nail gun puller, which it doesn't cause much surface damage to the fender-panel, when it's applied correctly, by a auto body repair-man, driver side back-fender repair process will contiune...


1991 Honda Sports 2-doors: Stage 1: Body panels, frotal, and back views, plus top-view, prepartion of the the top, side fenders & doors, and back truck, by painting a Silver-color metalic Paint-coat.

STAGE 2 : Sergio has prepared by a silver-coat paint layer, the Top, Side-panels, and Back-truck, are ready for the 3rd Stage, to customize the Lower Fiders & Door-panels with a White-marble Metalic-green one system paint.

1998 Honda, SIDE MIRRORS, custom process, sanded down to take muti layers of paint, cleaned and prepared to draw a half-circle border, and taped over, by a higher-quality masking tape over the half-circle White-peral form, and the the Oveal shape Mirrors, to be painted with a Blue-metallic paint, with the Clearer-coat paint, by Mario.

Paint Technician Body Postion & The Right Distance From The Car Auto Body Panels



Mario 1998 Honda-project, has progressed to Body-panels, which have the body panels, the Fronat hood, Top, Feders, and Side-doors, and Back are Custom-painted with plain White-peral, with Mario's perfected style of Custom Auto Painting, sice 2002, which he has restored major, and minor Sports-cars at Abram Friedman Auto Body Tech, frist the Auto Body Paint Tech, as a Paint Technician, 1st: for the Custom-painter in side the Paint-booth to keep a comforable moving distant from the Car, 2nd: to keep a right Body Posture, or the body-position, which the feet are position according the the painter movement around the car body panels, in an order the Righ-hand, or Left which holds the Paint-gun, with Air hose extension on the paint-booth floor, to be easily move around, each Body-panel as it's being painted. 3rd:To look at the "Car Body Panels Forms", as the Paint-techinican gets ready to use the paint-gun with the prepared Paint-systems, and the Clearer-coats in it, to carfully follow the Car's Body-forms, that's when the the Body-position play's the Big-role, as the custom body painting progress's, carfully, 4th: Professional masking of the wind shields, windows, mirrors,doors chroms ect, by the green masking, or Tranparent-cellophane, and a High-quality masking tape

Fontal view of the "1972 Classic Pontic Le mans", It needs minor & major spots, and panels restoration, frist we had to washed the car to remove all the surface dirt, grease, and marking oxidize surface spots.To look at the all 12-panels from the hood, to side fenders, top , door-panels, back truck, the panels under front, & back bumpers, circel-marking it with a magic marker

Back truck panel, which needs damaged-surface removal of the rusted area, a rectangular metal piece to be sized, to match the damaged-surface, fit it in, and Acr-weilded, carfully, and then girnd it, sand it, and apply body filler, and sand the surface ared ready for primeing
